About The Rural Alberta Advantage

Toronto-based trio The Rural Alberta Advantage (Nils Edenloff, Amy Cole, and Paul Banwatt) play indie-rock songs about hometowns and heartbreak, born out of images from growing up in Central and Northern Alberta. They sing about summers in the Rockies and winters on the farm, ice breakups in the spring time and the oil boom’s charm, the mine workers on compressed, the equally depressed, the city’s slow growth and the country’s wild rose, but mostly the songs just try to embrace the advantage of growing up in Alberta. Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to the Peppermint Lounge?
The Peppermint Lounge, once a legendary nightclub in New York City, was famed for its role in the birth of the twist dance craze during the 1960s. Hosting iconic performers like The Beatles and The Ronettes, it became a cultural hotspot. However, the original Peppermint Lounge eventually closed its doors in the 1980s due to financial struggles and changes in the nightlife scene. The venue underwent several rebrandings and relocations before its legacy faded. The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, however, is not directly related to the original Peppermint Lounge but continues the spirit of intimate live music experiences in a modern setting.
How many people does the Peppermint Club hold?
The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles boasts an intimate and stylish atmosphere, making it a sought-after spot for live music events. The venue has a capacity of approximately 250 people, ensuring that guests experience close-up performances in a cozy setting. This smaller capacity allows for a more personal ambiance, where attendees can enjoy the music and connect with artists. Its size makes it ideal for both emerging and established acts seeking a unique and immersive audience experience. If you're looking to attend a show at The Peppermint Club, it's recommended to purchase tickets early as events often sell out due to the limited space.
Does the Peppermint Club have a dress code?
The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles maintains a smart-casual dress code, reflecting its sophisticated yet relaxed vibe. While there's no strict formal dress requirement, guests are encouraged to dress stylishly and avoid overly casual attire such as athletic wear, flip-flops, or excessively ripped clothing. The venue's chic interior and upscale ambiance make it a great place to dress up for a night out, but comfort is still key. Dressing smartly helps ensure entry and enhances the overall experience. For specific events or private parties, dress codes may be stricter, so it's always a good idea to check your ticket or the venue's website for any special guidelines.
Are there seats at the Peppermint Club?
The Peppermint Club features a combination of seating and standing areas, designed to create an inviting and comfortable listening environment. The venue is known for its plush lounge-style seating, including sofas and cocktail tables arranged throughout the space, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the music. However, seating is typically available on a first-come, first-served basis and may vary depending on the event format. Some shows may be more standing-room focused, especially for larger crowds or energetic performances. If you prefer a seat, it's best to arrive early. Always check the event details on your ticket or the venue's website for specific seating arrangements.
