Event Info

From country music to rhythm and blues, vocalist Robin McKelle has made an entire career exploring the rich vastness of American music. With Impressions of Ella, McKelle returns to her traditional jazz roots and finds herself right at home, drawing from only one source and perhaps her greatest artistic influence, Ella Fitzgerald. With selections from Ellas extensive catalog, McKelle wisely eschews Ellas singular scatting and note-bending style in favor of thoughtful arrangements and keen musicianship that revivify these timeless standards.

About Robin McKelle

Robin McKelle (b. 1976) is a U.S. singer of jazz, blues, and soul. She was born Robin McElhatten in Rochester, New York. Her musical style is more influenced, however, by Ray Charles, Nina Simone, or Donny Hathaway. She has released two big-band jazz albums, followed by one that featured more blues/soul music in 2010, and a fourth that focussed on soul. Read more on Last.fm
