For the safety and security of all guests, the theatre typically allows small purses and bags, usually not exceeding 12”x12”x6”. Large backpacks, oversized bags, and suitcases are not permitted. All bags are subject to thorough inspection upon entry, so it's best to bring only essentials in a compact purse or clutch. To expedite the security process, consider using a clear bag if possible. If you have medical or childcare-related items, these are generally permitted but may require additional screening. For the most seamless experience, review the theater's official bag policy on their website before attending your event.
How early should I get to San Diego Civic Theater?
Arriving early at San Diego Civic Theatre is highly recommended to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Doors typically open one hour before showtime, but it's best to arrive at least 45-60 minutes prior to the event. This allows ample time for parking, ticket scanning, security checks, and finding your seat without rushing. If you plan to purchase concessions or merchandise, arriving early gives you extra time to browse without missing the start of the performance. For popular shows or if you need to pick up tickets from will-call, consider arriving even earlier, as lines can be longer. Early arrival ensures you don't miss any of the pre-show atmosphere or important announcements.
Where is the best place to sit at the San Diego Civic Theatre?
The best place to sit at the San Diego Civic Theatre largely depends on the type of performance and your personal preferences. Many patrons consider the center orchestra seats—especially those in rows C through M—to offer the best overall view and sound quality, providing an immersive experience close to the stage. For those seeking a panoramic perspective, the front mezzanine offers elevated seating with clear sightlines. If you prefer a more budget-friendly option, the rear orchestra and balcony seats still provide excellent views of the stage in this well-designed venue.
