In Take Me To The World, The Songs of Stephen Sondheim, Donna McKechnie celebrates one of Broadway's greatest composers by performing songs from many of his shows, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Anyone Can Whistle, as well as songs from some of his film scores. She shares stories of her time working with him, revealing the great influence he had in her life professionally and personally. Ms. McKechnie received a Tony Award for her performance as Cassie in A Chorus Line and is regarded internationally as one of Broadway's leading ladies having starred in or choreographed productions in London's West End as well as major productions in Tokyo and Paris. She recently completed a year-long run as Madame Morrible in the Broadway production of Wicked. Donna McKechnie (born November 16, 1940) is an American musical theater dancer, singer. actress and choreographer. She is perhaps best known for her professional and personal relationship with choreographer Michael Bennett, with whom she collaborated on her most noted role, "Cassie" from the musical A Chorus Line. McKechnie was part of Bennett's group therapy-style workshops that evolved into the Broadway smash A Chorus Line, in which she portrayed Cassie, a character based in great part on herself.
