About

1.) From St. Matthews, South Carolina, Mixed Feelings band manager and keyboard player Glenn W Walling wrote and produced "Sha-La-La" in 1976. (pictured center back on CD). As is characteristic for him, he composed the rough draft in only 15-20 minutes. Originally, the 45rpm was to have the flip side "Love Will Find a Way" as the A side, but the recording company inadvertently transposed sides. After release, the record was distributed to local radio stations in Columbia, South Carolina but never gained any air time. Read more on Last.fm

What are examples of mixed feelings?
Examples of mixed feelings include situations where a person experiences contradictory emotions simultaneously. For instance, someone might feel both excitement and nervousness before attending an R&B party like "Mixed Feelings"
What is it called when you feel emotion from music?
When you feel emotion from music, it is commonly referred to as "musical emotion" or "musical affect." This phenomenon is technically known as "music-induced emotion," and it describes the emotional response listeners experience when engaging with a song or performance. At an R&B event like Mixed Feelings, music-induced emotions can range from deep nostalgia to joyful excitement, depending on the rhythm, lyrics, and atmosphere. The scientific term for this connection is "emotional resonance," where music triggers the brain's reward system, releasing dopamine and other feel-good chemicals. People often attend R&B parties and galas specifically to experience these powerful sensations, seeking out songs that evoke happiness, sadness, or even catharsis. When searching online for why music makes you feel a certain way, you'll find that researchers attribute this to a combination of personal memories, cultural associations, and the intrinsic qualities of the music itself. Ultimately, the emotional impact of music is a universal language, making events like Mixed Feelings memorable and transformative for attendees.

The five core emotions of music, especially in genres like R&B, are happiness, sadness, anger, fear, and tenderness. These emotions are universally recognized and often evoked during music events such as Mixed Feelings, where carefully curated playlists and live performances tap into the audience's emotional spectrum. Happiness is often conveyed through upbeat rhythms and celebratory lyrics, making attendees feel energized and joyful. Sadness is expressed in soulful ballads or reflective melodies, resonating deeply with listeners. Anger might surface in powerful, driven tracks, while fear can be evoked through haunting harmonies or suspenseful arrangements. Tenderness, a hallmark of R&B, is found in love songs and soothing melodies that foster intimacy and connection among partygoers. What are mixed feelings?
Mixed feelings are the simultaneous experience of two or more conflicting emotions about a particular situation, person, or event. In the context of R&B events like the Mixed Feelings party or gala, attendees might feel both excitement about dancing to their favorite songs and anxiety about social interactions. This emotional complexity is natural and often enhances the overall experience, as music and social settings are known to trigger multiple emotional responses at once. Mixed feelings can also occur when a song reminds you of both happy and sad memories, or when you're celebrating a joyful moment while feeling nostalgic for the past. These ambivalent emotions are central to the human experience and are especially pronounced at music events where the atmosphere, lyrics, and rhythms combine to evoke a wide range of feelings.
