When Akeem decided at 15 that he wanted to be an artist, little did he know that the rough Jackson, Mississippi environment he grew up in was just the motivating factor he needed to get to where he is today. Having built the thick skin and resilience required to keep going no matter what stumbling blocks were in the way, there is an evident grit and edge to his work that is sometimes inexplicable.
